TOKYO, JAPAN – January 29, 2021 – TOYO Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Division, Code:8151), the parent company of TOYOTech announced that one of its employees, Tetsuya Nakamura received the 2020 IEC-APC Chair Award from IEC Activities Promotion Committee. He was recognized for his contributions to the development of international standards at the IEC and domestic standardization of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements while serving as an advisor for the IEC SC77B WG10.  TOYO is committed to contributing to the development of international standards through its activities at IEC-APC.   

 

Activities leading to the award

High-frequency continuous-wave immunity tests are tests that evaluate a product’s tolerance to electromagnetic noise.  Mr. Nakamura has been at the forefront of this area contributing to the standardization activities at the IEC since 2003. He has been a long-standing member of the IEC/SC77B national committee that handles high-frequency phenomena and also served as a commission secretary for the past 5 years. Tetsuya has been striving to have Japan’s opinions reflected on the standard and pursuing the reasonableness of the standard by finding issues in the standard, verifying them in joint experiments with industry associations, and feeding back the test data as a basis for discussion at international conferences.

TOYO Announces New Self-developed Vehicles and Components Emission Measurement Software ES10/VE

New Support for CISPR25:2016 Annex I, HV/EV testing

Fremont Calif., November 19, 2020 – TOYO Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Division, Code:8151) announces “ES10/VE”, a new software product for EMI*1 measurement of vehicles and on-vehicle components and EMI compliance evaluation*2. This software is an internally developed product of TOYO Corporation.

 

Product Summary

ES10/VE” is a new emission measurement software application developed by One Technologies Company, one of TOYO’s inhouse companies engaged in product development projects. This software is used together with an EMI receiver to measure the electromagnetic noise (emission) from automobiles and on-vehicle equipment. “ES10/VE” supports a variety of EMI receivers including those designed by Keysight Technologies and Rohde & Schwartz, which is one of the key advantages of this product.

“ES10/VE” supports “CISPR 25*3: 2016 Edition 4?Annex I,” an international EMI standard for automobiles. This annex has been added to define the evaluation method for power supply systems with high voltage components mounted on EV and HV since such systems using an increased amount of voltage could cause new noise interference.

Furthermore, two new features that help you to reduce the time to identify noise and take a countermeasure are implemented in “ES10/VE”. One is to show the measured electromagnetic noise in the time domain in addition to the frequency domain and the other one is to show a comparison between two sets of measurement data. You can visualize in the time domain view the timing of when the electromagnetic noise appeared and with this, you can easily pinpoint the noise source by finding a section of the noise that runs with the same timing. Also, with the spectrum graph comparison feature, the measurement results can be easily compared before and after a countermeasure is taken, which reduces the time to determine the right countermeasures.

 

EMI measurement software lineup 

TOYO’s self-developed EMI measurement software is now available in two series – the “ES10” series that supports a wide variety of EMI receivers and other EMI related test equipment (antenna mast, turntable, etc) and the “EPX” series*4, the high end series specifically developed for the most recent and top-of-the-line EMI receiver from Keysight Technologies. Using the unified platform (software’s base structure) for both series, we will minimize the functional differences and the time to release new features.

TOYO Launches New Radiated Emission Measurement Software ”ES10/RE”

Replaces long-standing industry standard EMC measurement software, “EP5” and “EP7” series

 

Fremont, Calif. – July 2, 2020 – TOYOTech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TOYO Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Division, Code: 8151) announced the completed development for “ES10/RE,” a new software for EMI*1 compliance evaluation and EMI measurement of radiated emission (electromagnetic noise emitted by electronic equipment including home appliances, multi-media, and medical equipment).

All electronic equipment including home appliances and communication devices emit electromagnetic waves, and EMI measurement needs to be conducted to ensure that the electromagnetic waves do not adversely affect other electronic equipment. While EMI measurement is conducted for both radiated emission (noise radiated in the air from electronic equipment) and conducted emission (noise propagated through the power and communication lines), the new software, “EP10/RE” is used for EMI measurement of radiated emission. It is meant to be used together with an EMI receiver, the hardware necessary for EMI measurement.

With the technological development such as IoT, 5G and autonomous driving, the electromagnetic environment around us has been becoming more and more complex. Though it is more difficult to detect electromagnetic noise than before due to the increased number of parts and functions used in recent products, engineers are requested to shorten the development time and reduce manhours. So, development engineers and EMC*2 test engineers need to measure noise and take countermeasures effectively and efficiently. By combining the ”ES10/RE” with an EMI receiver supporting the “FFT time domain scan*3,” you can quickly and accurately identify the location of the noise source. In addition, its difference display feature enables you to take more efficient countermeasures against noise as you can easily compare two different sets of measurement results obtained in completely different environments, for example, before and after the countermeasures are taken or a function on DUT is switched.

TOYO has developed and sold a number of EMI measurement software applications to respond to various customer needs. The software roughly falls under two main series – the “EP5” and ”EP7” series that has established its position as the industry standard, supporting various EMI receiver models and EMI measurement equipment (including antenna mast and turntable), and the high-end “EPX” series*4 that fully utilizes the features of Keysight Technologies’ top-of-the-line “N9048B PXE” EMI receiver. With “ES10/RE” developed on the same platform (fundamental software structure) as “EPX,” the functional differences among the “EP5” and “EP7” series have been minimized or eliminated, and the new features will be delivered to users in a shorter time. “ES10/RE” is the first application of the “ES10” series that will replace the existing ”EP5/RE” and “EP7/RE” software and will be followed by two other applications in sequence. “EPX” and “ES10” will be the two main pillars of TOYO’s EMI measurement software.

Utilizing our 30 years of experience in EMC measurement software development, TOYO will continue to deliver products that will help improve the efficiency of EMC measurement to reduce emissions and to improve quality control for electronic equipment and automobile development.

Launch of Swedish “Automotive CATR Solution“ installable in existing EMC testing anechoic chambers

Fremont, Calif. – June 25, 2020 – TOYOTech, a wholly owned subsidiary of TOYO Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Division, Code: 8151) announced the launch of the “Automotive CATR*1 (compact range) Solution” from RanLOS AB (HQ: Gothenburg, Sweden), following the conclusion of a distribution agreement for marketing RanLOS products in the United States, Japan and China. This solution offers a method to evaluate the quality of on-vehicle wireless communication devices.

The integration of automotive and communication technologies has been advancing with the increased needs  for on-vehicle wireless data communication to improve safety, streamline traffic, and offer infotainment and internet access services. It is expected that higher-quality communication – larger capacity and smaller delay – will be required to advance the progress of autonomous driving/Advanced Driver Assistance System technologies and to offer better-quality services.

While wireless communication testing has become a part of the routine in the mobile products and service development process to improve quality and guarantee performance in the communication industry, testing methodologies and standards for wireless communication functions on automobiles has yet to be established. When you test on-vehicle wireless communication equipment, the entire vehicle with the communication equipment mounted on needs to be tested instead of testing the equipment alone. In addition, automotive manufacturers are seeking a practical way to test while simulating actual traffic environments to reproduce more realistic communication.

RanLOS develops the “Automotive CATR Solution” by applying to automotive testing the accurate and highly reproducible test method that has been used in the communication industry. By deploying the solution in your existing anechoic chamber, you can test wireless communication performance of automobiles while simulating realistic communication on highways or in cities.

Its compact and easy-to-install design and reduced reflection from the floor and walls with the use of plane waves to generate electromagnetic fields allow it to be installed in an existing anechoic chamber for EMC testing. When it is placed on a turntable with a chassis dynamometer, OTA (Over-The-Air) testing can be conducted in either driving or regeneration mode and with ADAS function running.

This solution can be used for functional testing of safety systems and autonomous driving systems as it supports V2X communication, which is expected to spread widely in the future. In addition, the easy setup helps reduce test time.

Fremont, Calif. – May 21, 2020 – TOYOTech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TOYO Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Division, Code:8151) launched the new Conducted Emission Measurement and Analysis Software, “EPX/CE”, for EMI*1 measurement of electromagnetic noise generated by electronic equipment under test and propagated through power and communication lines.  “EPX/CE” may also be used for EMI compliance testing of electronic equipment and the software is available both in English and Japanese.

All electronic equipment including home appliances and communication devices emit electromagnetic waves, and EMI measurement is conducted to make sure that the electromagnetic waves do not adversely affect other electronic equipment. While EMI measurement is conducted for both radiated (noise radiated in the air from electronic equipment) and conducted emission (noise propagated through the power and communication lines)? the new software, “EPX/CE” is used for EMI measurement for conducted emission.

 

The “EPX/CE” is the third application that completes the series of EPX software that includes two other preceding applications, “EPX/RE” for radiated emission measurement and “EPX/VE” for emission measurement for automobile and on-vehicle equipment. In the “EPX series”, two technologies developed by TOYO are used – they help to prevent missing important noise even when you conduct measurement in a wideband and to perform measurements that are fully compliant with international standards. Like other “EPX series” software, the “EPX/CE” also allows constant monitoring of the noise spectrum in the measurement frequency range by incorporating “Accelerated Time Domain Scan (A-TDS)” as an optional feature for Keysight’s latest EMI receiver*2 “N9048B PXE”, so that no noise is missed. When noise that exceeds the maximum allowable level defined by the standard is missed in the EMI measurement conducted at each development phase and is found at the final stage of development, this error will substantially increase the development time as engineers need to go back to an earlier stage and fix the problem. Due to this, development engineers have no choice but to take great pains in taking countermeasures against noise and spend much time on it. The solution comprising of the “EPX series” software such as the “EPX/CE” and the “N9048B PXE” EMI receiver reduces the time needed to take countermeasures against electromagnetic noise as it prevents from missing important noise and helps you easily find the source of noise. In addition, the automated measurement sequence feature of the “EPX series” delivers highly reliable measurement results equivalent to those obtained by an experienced engineer. The “EPX series” will improve the efficiency of the customer’s operation as well as the measurement quality.

 
 
Key technologies in “EPX Series”

The “EPX series” has two features that use TOYO’s self-developed technologies – “Impulse noise removal feature” and ”Compliance evaluation feature”, both of which solve the issues that could occur in a wideband measurement using the “N9048B PXE” EMI receiver.

The “Impulse noise removal feature” prevents the target electromagnetic noise from being hidden by other noise irrelevant to the measurement like static electricity and so-called click*3 noise. The “Compliance evaluation feature” allows you to conduct measurements compliant with international standards without relying on the experiences and skills of test engineers.

New Software Enables Anyone to Conduct Measurements and Perform Analysis Like an Experienced Engineer

Tokyo, Jan 8, 2020 – TOYO Corporation (HQ: Chuo-ku, Tokyo Japan, President and CEO: Masaru Gomi) announces the launch of new internally developed EMI(*1) measurement and analysis software for automobile and on-vehicle equipment. Called Vehicles and Components Emissions Measurement and Analysis Software, the application is used for measuring electromagnetic interference emissions from automobile and on-vehicle equipment and analyzing them to verify conformance to various standards including international and auto makers’ own standards.

The “EPX/VE” is a software product that measures and analyzes the electromagnetic noise emitted from automobile and on-vehicle equipment. Combined with Keysight’s EMI receiver(*2), “N9048B PXE,” this software helps prevent you from missing any noise and identify the part that emits noise along with the location of the noise source. By making it easier to pinpoint the noise source, development engineers are now able to take countermeasures against such noise at each step of the development cycle more efficiently, which leads to the reduction in overall development time.

The “EPX/VE” supports the conformance test and ease of evaluation against EMI standards for automobile and on-vehicle equipment in various countries and regions.

 

Background / Feature
The “EPX/VE” is TOYO’s original software and was developed by One Technologies Company, an in-house TOYO company engaged in product development. An operator can measure and record the electromagnetic noise emitted by automobile and on-vehicle equipment using an EMI receiver and analyze the measured data on the “EPX/VE” to check whether the product complies with various standards.

There have been some challenges with the above-mentioned analysis – for example, it was difficult for non-experienced engineers to find the noise source by looking at the measured data. The noise source often can be identified only by an experienced engineer’s intuition. However, by visualizing all signal waveforms including noise in chronological order, the “EPX/VE” can provide you with the timing and frequency component of the noise. You can easily isolate the part emitting noise by finding the one that has the operating cycle that matches the target signal waveform. This enables anyone to conduct the EMI measurement and analysis like an expert engineer and will help shorten the overall product development cycle.

Furthermore, the “EPX/VE” also supports the conformance test for various international, regional or auto manufacturers’ own standards and by using this software, you can easily find out if your product conforms to the relevant EMI standard.

 

Combined solution with Keysight “N9048B PXE” EMI receiver
With the world’s first feature called “Accelerated Time Domain Scan (A-TDS)”*3, Keysight Technologies’ new EMI receiver, “N9048B PXE” offers gapless measurement, which enables you to “constantly” monitor the spectrum in the measurement frequency range so that noise is no longer missed.
